Just pause it

Wouldn't it be great if we could put things on pause, fast forward, or rewind for another chance?  Go back in time or move forward over the tough times?  Put things on pause to relish the fantastic moments in our lives?

I was telling my older grandson a rather lengthy joke when the younger one told me to "Pause it."  He had something important to say and didn't want to wait.  He wasn't being rude.  Instead, he was thinking like the technology that is so much a part of his life.

Yesterday I took both boys to the park to feed the ducks.  The wind was blowing, the air was cool, and we ran together along the edge of the pond.  Each boy had two pieces of bread and independently chose to eat part of the bread before tossing broken pieces to the ducks and birds.  Their hair was blowing, they were laughing, and my joy at being a part of the experience will be on pause in my brain forever.

Outside in November is exhilarating--I sometimes forget this during the week, grading papers, wrestling with forms.

I think I might just adapt your grandson's motto: "Just pause it"--make's a nice counterpoint to the Nike nonsense "Just do it."

Children amaze me everyday! Sounds like you had a wonderful time spending the day with your grandsons. I love the "just pause it" phrase. I will probably use that from now on.

That is funny about your grandson telling you to "pause it" while you were talking. That just shows that our world is becoming more and more techinical and now the younger children are started to understand it more.
